MX-5 vs. S2000?

This thread is getting stupid.
We've got a bunch of people arguing over what amounts to personal preferences. I think it's glaringly obvious that the Miata and the S2000 are not attempting to accomplish the same goal. Comparing them as equals is dumb.
I have driven a few miatas in my time and they are very, very fun little cars. I just prefer Honda motors and I like the S2000 more on every front, looks, handling, braking, comfort, and I feel like the S2000 is better put together.
There is nothing wrong with miatas but I feel like they are more like rear wheel drive Civics than a true sports car. That isn't to knock them as I have owned many EF Civics and CRXs and love them, and if I wanted to get into rwd for a lower price point than an S2000 I would be in a miata, but I am fortunate enough to be able to afford a new S2000 and that is what I chose.

I've driven a mx-5, and while it was ok....it didn't really wow me.
I'd have to agree with MPosey....the S2000 is just more car in all performance aspects.
My sig pretty much says it all....

Are you the one with the B16B CRX on CRXCommunity.com? If so, I've seen your race videos and they're sick!
I dont get why the miata being a few thousand dollars cheaper is a good thing? Its more poorly engineered and looks like ass in every year. Why dont you save more money and buy a 86' crown vic and cut all the doors/roof/hood off, that'll have a great lightweight feel and be far cheaper than a miata!
Had a 93 and a 94 Miata. Had an 03 API and now have an 02. Even had a Z. In their stock form, the Miata is a go cart, the S2000 a race car, and, the Z a snappy looking car that went fast in a straight line.
The Miata and the S2000 are great cars. They can be grouped together as "sport cars" but comparing them is a very arbitrary issue.
They both produce(d) smiles on my face. Having both at the same time is not a bad thing.

Ah, the aggressive ignorance continues apace....
I don't care whether one prefers one or the other; I prefer driving my S2000 to any Miata, on the street.
But to trot out tripe like or takes aggressive ignorance to a new level.
Not that that surprises me any more around here.

I have owned two Miata and two S2000. I still own a tracked prepped S2000 that I use for DEs when I instruct and I have a 2010 MX-5 (autoX/daily driver).
The S2000 is a little faster, the MX-5 is more fun to drive. The new MX-5 has about the same chassis stiffness as the S2000 and carbon syncros in the gearbox.
Both the Miata and the S2000 have the deserved reputation as the cars with the best shifting transmission around. I give the S2000 a slight edge although the newer NC2 6 spd is pretty close to the S2000.
I think the MX-5 is a better daily driver, the stock S2000 handles better than a stock MX-5 and is faster. Modded Miata probably handle better than the S2000 (although aero really helps the S2000 jump to another level). Both the Miata and the S2000 are world class autoX cars (Miata pretty much owns ES, CS and CSP while the S2000 does well in AS (now BS) and will probably do well in STR (note that a MX-5 won STR at Nationals this year).
