Default Is My 03 AP1 Totaled?

2003 AP1, 65k miles

How it happened...

I was driving in the rain, going uphill on a local street and the rear kicked out right.
I couldn't counter-steer/brake/anything to avoid colliding straight into a retaining wall - it happened so fast.
Both airbags deployed and my rear passenger fender and bumper are also damaged...not sure how that happened
The car starts up fine, from what I can tell...

I don't have collision insurance and I worked my tail off to get this car.
Not to mention I was given 3 tickets...
I'm afraid it's totaled and I will be out a considerable amount of money...
It's in a body shop right now and I have to wait till Monday to hear back from them.

Wanted some advice from anyone who's been in this situation before and could offer me some advice....any would be greatly appreciated.
From what I can tell my options are:
1. Fix it (not sure how much it'll cost)
2. Part it out...(not sure how much I could get for the parts that are intact)

Thanks for any advice...

That looks like it will certainly be totaled. If it isn't covered at all with insurance then you will be better off selling the parts you can.

i would fix it and keep it. its still a clean title car so value wont be affected if fixed right.

sorry to see that,
Less than 2k?

This was covered by insurance, but the grand total was ~$4500.

Yeah, my guess is going to be in the $5k ballpark. Why were you issued 3 tickets?

About $1500 to fix. The headlights are the most expensive part.

Lol, in what world?

Headlights: $600
Hood: $400
Bumper Support: $100
Radiator/Fans: $350
Undertray: $75
Wheel Wells: $50
Airbags: $250

So that's $1825 in parts alone without knowing how much more is damaged under the hood or in the back. Gotta straighten out the parts that are smushed. Then you add paint for both fenders, the hood, both bumpers. Then you add in the labor for all of that.

So actually, I recant my estimate of $5k and say more like $4k. But it will be nowhere near $1500, that's for sure.

don't forget the possible bent suspension components and it will also need to be aligned afterwards

I'm curious as to what the tickets are for as well. I always saw it as the biggest asshole move to ticket people who get into wrecks, especially if no one else was involved (like this case). Clearly the owner is aware that they f@#ked up, adding tickets on top of it is just pouring salt in the wounds.
