Also, I have no doubt you could make back everything and then some from the parts, since its all low mileage. But it takes a months and months, especially for the not so in demand items.. I bet the motor alone could pay for a cheap temporary car, though..
Yea, the cop was a 5 star jerk. He didn't even ask if I was ok. The first thing he asked was if I drank (which I didn't). He didn't believe me so he gave me a sobriety test, which I obviously passed. I will hear back from the body shop tomorrow (fingers crossed). If it's fixable for a fair amount I will have them fix whatever I can't do. The rest my friend said he'd help me. Thanks for your advice and encouragement, it really does help.
the fenders, bumper, hood arent your problem. they can be replaced. I think you mentioned it had rear damage? If its the rear quarter panel or the side skirt your in for one big pain in the ass....there all tac welded on. thats where most of your money is going to be when talking about body work.

As for the frame, chances are its bent from my experiece with front impacts.

And next the suspension. if the frame is bent to the suspension components you need to have them looked at for cracks and bent parts. Last thing you want is a lower/upper control arm to break when your going down the road.

Depending how fast you hit i would see if the motor moved aka bent the motor mounts. If it did your trans mount moved as well.

Good luck,

Andrew

If it's fixed with used parts...maybe not totaled.

IMO..It's never a good idea to save a few $ by not having full coverage Ins.

What do you mean you're afraid it will be totaled? Since you had the bright idea to not protect your nice car with insurance it's all up to you.

You should sell it to somebody on here that can save it. And stay away from performance cars until you can afford to insure them properly.

Thanks for making me feel worse than I already do.

Yeah, my guess is going to be in the $5k ballpark. Why were you issued 3 tickets?
I was thinking more 6-7k.

1. Careless Driving
2. Leaving scene of accident. (It was near the bottom of a hill on a rainy night and I didn't want to get hit by another car. So I moved to an adjacent parking lot)
3. Failure to report accident. (They came within 5 minutes of the incident. And didn't have my phone with me.)
You can get the 3 tickets tossed. If you were accurate in the details, it would be easy to contest them as long as its done properly. You can get an attorney or bone up if you think you can, and represent yourself. Don't worry about what cops do, that comes out in the wash. He was probably filling his quota or making himself feel good.

Man I would of been so pissed. Take it to court. You should be fine getting at least 2 of the 3 dismissed.

I hope everything works out man

Hey man, sucks to hear you worked your tail off to get the car and now this. Glad you are ok. Hopefully they come back with a decent estimate and you can get it fixed. Good luck to you!
