My crash story
My turn to eat humble pie I suppose.
I was driving to work in the early morning hours and took some twisties too fast. I'm not exactly sure what happened but the next thing I know I'm into the wall and in a spin. I may've turned harder than needed or hit a slick spot or got into the "marbles" and trash next to the divider. All I know is I broke my shit.
I impacted the divider on my front driver's side corner - somehow hitting the wheels without damaging the paint at all on the car. Superficially, there appeared to be little damage; my driver's side wheels were obviously scratched and there was a dark spot on the fender where I hit the wall. Driving the S after was a different story as the front and back suspensions were wobbly and off-aligned.
The first superficial estimate was for $1800. Mostly for wheels and front end repair. The bodyshop called today after putting the car on a lift and will be asking for another $3400 to replace the front end and suspension. The good news is the frame is undamaged.
The body shop said they'd have me driving it again before the end of the month. One interesting detail is they found clamp marks on the frame after lifting it. The clamp marks indicate the first owner had bodyshop work done. Nothing has been claimed on Carfax so I have no idea what was repaired. My bodyshop says he cannot see any frame damage so it's of little concern right now.

Hit the wall with the front; tight / understeer. Hit it with the rear; loose / oversteer. :-)
Glad you are OK. Your front tires must have lost forward bite if it just nosed into the wall.

Either that or I somehow fishtailed into it. I "feel" that I lost the rear end. I wish I had video, I'm still amazed the sides aren't damaged yet the wheels are abraised to hell. I want to see how I did it.

it happens.. my S4 was a victim of lift off oversteer in the rain. The only thing running through my mind, after correction failed, as I was heading for the concrete highway barrier on a 200ft bridge over jagged rocks was.. shit, my car is gonna get ****ed up. S2000s seem to be pretty fixable, so good luck.

thanks guys,
I'm replacing everything with OEM or so I think, it's being done through my insurance. Um, should I be specifying this? I hate to think my adjuster is out at the pick and pull finding new parts for me
