Default My First Autocross Today

After 6 months of ownership I was finally able to take the car out and wow it was a blast. It was my first time running ever and I'll definitely be looking to become a regular! I know now why it's so hyped up to track these cars and I finally know what kind of build direction I want to take the car in.

No stance or huge power mods for me, I'll be doing a track build during my time with the car.

If anyone has not had the chance to track your S, you're really missing out!

Autocross is really nothing compared to an actual track day. Autox is like 6 runs of a minute. Think of 3-4 20 to 30 minute runs. You're looking at an hour to an hour and a half of racing on a track. After road course racing I don't think I can ever go to an autox again.

I live in a pretty hick-town of Alabama and would have to travel all the way to Atlanta for a road course. I'm 19 and in college so I shudder to think of the expenses with running heavy track days like the tires haha.

My rears are pretty dead and likely won't have another set for ~2months.

Went to my first autocross in 1990. Have done a full season every year since. It's like crack to a gear head.

It has been 15 years since I last did it with my MR2. So it was a real blast to try it again after all those years.
I was very impressed with the S2K, and so was the guy with the C6 vette, and the guys with the Mustang GT's that I beat.

...what's the saying..."if road racing was any harder, it would be called autoslalom." best 60 seconds of the day...except when, well, you know.

i've slalomed for the past 8 years. did some track days. always back to the slalom...cost/benefit/risk ratio is far better.
