My First Autocross Today
I'm sure I'll be in the same boat with the cost/reward situation, but I'm definitely getting in a full track day during my time with the car all the same.
Autocross is really nothing compared to an actual track day. Autox is like 6 runs of a minute. Think of 3-4 20 to 30 minute runs. You're looking at an hour to an hour and a half of racing on a track. After road course racing I don't think I can ever go to an autox again.
I know for a fact I am a better driver overall after my autoX experiences, but especially when behind the wheel of my S2000.

My rears are pretty dead and likely won't have another set for ~2months.
There are two tracks in Alabama that do trackdays. Barbers does them(I am pretty sure) and there is another smaller track that will do them also.

Indeed. However, there is fun to be had and driving skills to be learned at autoX. Love it.
