sitting in the "pole position" at a stop light with 4 cars (big intersection), i launch way out... rev to 9k and CRUNCH/ grind- ouch!!! far enough out to double clutch and recover the shift, but man was that frustrating. dont know if that was "the grind" or a driver-error misshift, but it hurt. it was going from first to second... never had anything like it before. really didnt think i misshifted, but am willing to take the blame if it wasnt the "real" grind.
opinions from those with the grind- is this how the grind starts?

The 1-2 grind doesn't get worse or better. It does depend on temperature and RPM. It was more likely to occur on my car when I was turning during the shift.

The turning comment makes little sense if you you look at what the service bulletin fix is?

After it happens....
It makes you think of the "gri~~nd" evertime shifting from first to second... which is very frustrating...

I've always wondered... it this really grinds up the gears and damages them significantly. How many time can we grind after the tranny is really f**d up <--- I agree this question sounds very studpid

Hey wanabe,

I'm just glad it wasn't anything more serious. Guess you have to go back to shifting 101 class now

Let's do lunch once tax season is over.

From the title of this thread, I thought it might be WAY off topic.
