My first VTEC - and nothing major happened? What's wrong?
oo - didn't know if that was bad (going too high on low gears). I was already in gears because it was the highway. I'd love to try it in 1st but I can't anywhere close where I live - too much traffic and people. Next time I get an open spot I'll definetely try it, now that I have the engine broken in!! Do I love it!!
I get into the 90's on third about 92 to 94 depends on how good my previous shifts where....A great way to feel vtec is on a very short higway on ramp slow down after the last curve before the long merge part onto the highway stay in second gear about 35...then look for traffic if clear hit it....takes like three seconds until ya hit 6000rpm....definetly feel it pull and gets stronger as the rpm go up...be careful its like crack ya want more and push that red line ...don't bounce or ya feel like a fool.

If shifting at redline, I shift to 4th somewhere in the high 90s, but certainly not over 100.

As s2000 owners know the 2 liter engine is sensitive to weight!
How much do you weigh? Did you have a passenger in the car when you got your dose of V-tec? The answer to feeling that V-tec grunt is not always adding hp but taking weight off the car.
You can easily take 100 lbs off the car and it will look the same on the exterior except for Volk te 37's in 16 inch. My S is noticeably quicker after taking 100 lbs off, I now will take another 27 lbs off, add this to a CAI and denso plugs with synthetic oil and you have a faster ride.

The VTEC rush, to me, feels like the kick-in acceleration of my son's Mazada 323 turbo. Not saying that little zoom-zoom car is as fast as the S, but the feeling when hitting the VTEC range is similar to the turbo kicking in--IMO. Of course, that was the only turbo powered car I've driven.
