Ok so I have been on a credit card shopping spree as of recent and have bought new tires, brakes, and a lot of general maintenance stuff.
I want to paint my wheels black, but have heard mixed reviews on what to use.
Some people have said use duplicolor high gloss engine enamel due to its scratch/crack resistance. Others have said tot use duplicolor wheel paint and clear - which I have used before on my brother's factory TL wheels and was unhappy with the way that it turned out.
I definitely want a glossy finish FOR A GOOD PRICE. Therefore that rules out a professional spray and powdercoat.
Anyone have any success stories with products they used to paint their factory wheels?

I agree the only way to have a durable coat is to powder coat. Plus it will look better than if you paint your wheels by hand cause they are pros. (not that I claim to know your profession or abilities)

Just a quick question, sorta on topic. When powdercoating, is it possible for them to leave a lip? I've only ever seen the whole wheel done, and I generally like a nice lip on wheels if they're going to be painted/coated.

Yep, they can leave a lip. You can go two-tone, get a lip, etc but it all costs more to do those bits.
One solid color is definitely the most economical way to dress up your wheels in a durable finish.

Im gonna be brutally honest here...If youre too cheap to pay $200 to powercoat wheels on a $30k car you should sell it immediately and buy something that fits your "budget" lifestyle

uh not this shit again.. he has a 2001 which can be had now for like $12k.. plus he mentioned he alreay bought a bunch of other stuff. Get over yourself. Your car is inexpensive. Just because someone doesn't want to spend money, doesn't mean they are cheap ass.
