Why do you guys say you vteced your cars? bmw has vanos, just like vtec basicly, they dont say they vanosed there car. I just never really understood this. anyone care to fill me in? Thanks.

The VANOS effect is seamless, you don't experience it as a noticeable transition point. In other words it isn't really a verb, more of a noun. The newer I-VTEC varies timing and has a second cam set so it really is V-TEC plus VANOS so I guess it is a noun and a verb.
Porsche is the only other company, than honda, that varies duration, lift and timing. I believe their system is called Valvetronic.

Vtec - just sounds right. When anyone says that, you know what they mean, also it gives images of a "kick" either kicking someone's butt in a race or the kick in the ass feeling when it engages. Also, tek is Chinese for kick so that is just a coincidence
