Do you think the suspension, steering ratios, seats, body moldings, shifter, wheels, lug nuts, shifter knob, and the fact they would have to be installed outside a Honda factory would somehow be a cheaper / better alternative than installing a rag-top?

It didn't seem like it to me, but who knows...
I am pretty sure you can buy the shocks and sway bars. Good aftermarket coilovers are better IMO

The Seats? Well you got me there.

Yeah, me too.

For all the little pieces I want, factory installed, it'd be real nice to just have to put in the top to make it my own...

I guess if they start turning up on E-Bay, that would be a sign...

It comes off. I took a really good look at a CR. But if you remove the cover and install a softtop, you will have to remove the extra suport honda added in the rear. I think it looks very good in person. Even the wing is not that bad up close and personal. I personally would leave it as is. I too hated it when it was first posted, but now after seeing it in person, I would buy one.

I think it would be cheaper to install a softop in a CR then to build a standard S2000 to the CR spec. Just too many parts that need to be replaced and they are rare parts. Softtop on the other hand can be found cheap.

Yeah, but you would have to find EVERYTHING...the vinyl top, the motors, frame, seals, hardware, switch, wiring, etc. etc., that could turn into a headache.

Highrpmek,

I have a rio CR and I love it. The spoiler really grows on you and doesn't seem to overpower the car in person. Like you, I would have been happy with a lip spoiler. Still not a bad compromise though.

The rear cover comes off and another poster mentioned the brace and the lack of any wiring, controls, or additional hardware necessary to install a soft top. I have also pondered installing a soft top or looking to see if an old fashioned split toneau cover could be made.

I absolutely love the seats!!! The alacantra holds you in place like a glove and I think it is very substantial. I also believe it wll hold up over time, however, I will have to wait and see.

I love my CR and can't reccomend it strongly enough. I would like to qualify that mine is not daily driven and will be used for a autocross and track days with ocassional street time.

Hope this helps.

Not true. If you have not seen it, but there are a number of complete softtops for sale from time to time in the for sale forum. 1000 roughly gets you the top, frame and motors. The wiring harness can be had from a few wrecking yards that sell online. All in all that would be the simplest swap of the two. Also everything you take off of the CR to do the softtop install could be sold easy. The cover alone is 1200 from the dealer and I know someone that would jump at it for 1/2 of that. i would bet Honda left the standard wiring in the car and just changes the stuff you could see, so even that may not be an issue.

Going the other means you would have to buy everything new, from the dealer. Just the rims alone will set you back 2K.

Trust me, I know what I am talking about when it comes to used S2000 parts.
