Default My S2k caught me off gaurd!

hi guys:

All right here's what happened:

I've got a 02 s2k with ~4000 miles on it...No problems until yesterday when...

Started in 1st and floored it, as soon as I hit 6k RPM the car stopped accelerating....Basically felt a big jerk and I let go of the gas.

then I tried it once more...as soon as I hit 6K RPM in first the same thing.

I then stopped, shifted to 2nd at 4K RPM and in second went past 6K RPM with no problem...slowed down, downshifted to 1st and went passed 6K RPM with no problem...I've driven it about 100 miles since with no problem at all...

Looking for some answers if someone has a clue...I called the dealership and they said they had no idea and since the "check engine" light did not come on AND I can't reproduce it they really can't diagnose it :-(

Please send any info....

cheers,
Allen

The car was not warmed up. You need three bars or the rev limiter will stop you.

yup. what zippy said. You shouldn't run any car hard until warmed up.

OMG!!! That exact same thing happened to me today! I live right by the freeway, so I doubt the car is warmed up by the time I get there, and I went up the onramp, and it felt like a big hiccup. Scared the crap out of me because I didn't know what had happened, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one.

OMG! I floored my car when I first took delivery and that's what I thought because VTEC wasn't as pronounced as I thought it would be...

I've done it too. It sucks.

Someone on the board posted a funny story some time ago about how he was trying to show off for a girl when he accelerated with a cold engine and his sunglasses came flying off his face

Embarrassing when one knows and still does it. I was showing off the car to a beautiful young lady and sure enough, it just went flat!!! As I had driven it earlier, I thought it was warm enough. I did not bother to look at my temperature guage. Really DUMB and EMBARRASSING!!!
