Why the hell would you have a 5 day lag where you weren't covered? I could call Geico right now and be covered immediately.

Actually, insurance usually goes in to effect as soon as you set it up as long as there is a current policy in place (dad's). For example, I buy a third car, I just call my insurance company and let them know and I am covered even though I haven't made the increased payment yet.

Now, if your car was parked in your father's driveway and he owns the home, you may be covered under his homeowner's policy. Did you check?

Good luck with the repairs. This won't be cheap.

You own a 2006 S2000 but don't have insurance?

First thing to do is get insured. You get into an accident and get sued and you will loose everything (and if you own nothing now then perhaps they will just garnish any future earnings to collect on the judgment).

Wow man, that sucks big time. I have some bad news for you as well. This is going to be very expensive. You need a new ignition switch with new keys (they took the old one and can actually make a key from it if they know what they are doing). Therefor you will need to rekey the door locks to match the new key (unless you want to use 2 different keys). Also you will need to have the new keys programmed to your ecu. You need to find out who the best locksmith is in your area, this job requires a device that plugs into your obdII to program the keys... they will be way cheaper than the dealer.. but it is still going to be pricey. GOOD LUCK.

BTW... you need to get that car the hell out of there ASAP! Do you know anyone with a garage you could borrow or possibly rent? THEY WILL COME BACK NO DOUBT!!!!!

Atleast go pull some relays out and disconnect a few wires under the hood

On top of that you need to replace the top. Trust me I know, the same exact thing happened to me
The reason they pulled the bottom panel is to pry open the ECU and pull the immoblizer chip. They didn't know that 06+ had the ECU relocated. My car was hot wired but for some reason they were not able to steal it.

Good luck!
