MY01 vs. MY02 Transmission
I always hear about transmission troubles in the MY00-01, so what, if anything, was changed in MY02 to correct some of these problems? Is there a difference in the throw? Shifting feel, etc.?
If you do enough looking you will find that people have had "problems" with both. Even the 03. Even the 04.
To sorta answer your question though, the tranny was updated in 02 to take care of the "clutch buzz". If you do a search on that term you might find out what it's all about. Supposedly most all the 00-01 should have this update since it was offered to be replaced via a TSB by Honda. You will find that some still have some sort of problem even after the TSB..??
I think this is a case where the tranny (and diff for that matter) may be a "weak spot" on the s2000, but not a "problem" for everyone. Most of us have a true love affair with the slick shifting abilities of this car
Also, at least some of the problems could be ellimintaed by the user, and or frequent tranny fluid replacement.
On a used car much would have to do with how it was taken care of and maintained.

The transmission in the '04 has wider gearing to take care of complaints when starting out, etc.
Ttbomk, that's the only reason for the change. The weak points in the drive train are the differential and the clutch, not the transmission.
