currently i am looking for an s2000 and have found one within my price range. its a 2000 silver w/ two tone black and red interior. i was talking to my friend who as an 02 who told me to come to this board and he said the that the 00-01 models had problems that were mostly fixed by 02, he said that the 00 had a plastic back window (is it possible to replace it w/ a glass one i.e. buy a new top?) and also gear grinding? are these true and also what are other problems the 00 s2000 has in general

 

plastic window is user preference... some ppl like it, some ppl don't... for those that don't, you CAN replace it with a 02+ top...

The main problem you might run into is the infamous clutch TSB rattle.... do a search on the this and you'll see what everyone has to say... it really doesn't damage anything as far as I know, but it might irritate some... you can always get an aftermarket clutch since the stock one isn't that strong in the first place..

A couple other problems that you MIGHT come across... 1) is a faulty catalytic converter, but this is covered by honda warranty up to 80k miles/ 8 years... so getting that replaced shouldn't be a prob... 2) faded rear tailights... some ppl get honda to replace it, some dont...

Theres a few other TSB's out there... in regards to spark plug recalls, short block probs (i think)... but im sure others will put in their two cents... either way... the pros of having the s2k will outweigh the cons... and you most likely won't regret buying it, but thats just IMO of course
