My MY01 has done this since I bought it. Never had an issue. I've tried everything and it still does it.

So what do you do? Just push it back in everytime it comes out?

I've cleaned the oil off the o-rings more often now... But under aggresive driving conditions, it still wants to poke out a little - I have to click it back in place once in a while.
I believe you ought to go to the dealer and insist on a new one while your car is still under warranty. There seems to be many more of us WITHOUT this problem than there are those WITH the problem, sooooo logic would have it that there is a slight inconsistency, and maybe that inconsistency in the o-ring seals on the dipstick.

Do this and let me know the outcome John.

Keep in mind, I have an early 2002, and it took me 3 gas cap exchanges before I finally got one that not only worked right, but has continued to work right. All of them came to me free because my car was under warranty and there was no way I was going to screw around with a bad cap on a new car.

Good call Doug - I think a call to Terry is in order. I am going to use the Salamander as a guage. That's going to be quite a long drive and parts of it will undoubtly be aggresive.

BTW, The 04's PCV valve looks different from the 00-03. It does not have a right angle outlet, but is straight into the Valve cover. I believe it's a screw-in metal PCV.
