MY04 Rear End/Differentials
i think honda should make some changes on differentials for MY04 and make it stronger. i keep hearing stories about people breaking parts of the rear end. so honda if your reading this, please consider the people who take their cars to the tracks. please don't flame me, i know the s2k ain't a drag car but it would be nice to run the 1/4 mile and don't have to worry about breaking parts.
Yeah and I think they should change the paper in the manual for the 2004 to some other material because I ripped a page once and I just don't think's that good enough for a $32k vehicle blah, blah, blah.
Jeez, can we give the '04 speculation/requests a break?
Do you seriously believe they are going to make any last minute mechanical changes at this point? - knowing what I do of Japanese manufacturing organisations (I worked for one for almost 20 years) I can guarantee all the specs for the '05 model, never mind '04, were set in concrete at least 6 months ago so stop the daydreaming..

My guess, based on what I've been reading, is that Honda will simply make the 4.44 rear gear stock in 04. It already exists, it's make by the same manufacturer (Mazda) that supplies the stock 4.1 rear gears, so this will be a very easy thing to do.
But don't expect Honda to invest a lot of money redesigning or beefing up the diff -- I don't think they're going to invest in protecting the diff from the abusive driving habits that lead to it destruction.

I thought the announcement conveyed verbally to the dealers was that they WERE going to change the stock gear ratios. That's not as solid as seeing it in print, but it would make sense if they were changing the final drive.
