Well for one, i probably should be changing my name from rsxflyby to something else now that it is sold in an attempt to buy an S in a few months. I did some searches on tire replacement and i came up with some results. But NONE for the 04s. I know that the 04s do not come with the S0-2s that everyone raves about . But i was just wondering which tire would be a good replacement for the Potenza RE050. I was considering the Dunlop SP Sport 9000 ,
Kumho Ecsta MX and Yokohama AVS E100. What do you guys think of the 04 OEMs and the others listed? Also, any other options? Any responses are appreciated. THANKS!!!

The 04 oem's are still pretty good...if you want the S02's, the Porsche Boxter came with a specific S02 in a 17"....try searching for tires for a boxter!

The OEM tires on the '04 are pretty much just as good as the S-02's. They're a bit better in the wet, and just a touch worse in the dry.

The ES100 is a giant step down from the OEM '04 tire.

I still don't understand why you want to change the stock '04 tires. Can you please give a really good reason?

No most definitely do NOT do that.

The Boxster S02 is a very different tyre to the S2000 S02 and turns the S2000 in to a dog of a handler.

NO...thats not what i meant...just meant to search for tires for a boxter since they came factory with 17's in the same sizes! Those S02's are junk compared to ours...i agree with that!

the reason i would want to get different tires is mainly b/c of the price of the OEM tires and how frequently they have to be changed. i didnt think it would be a bad idea to explore some other tires, but handling and traction is a BIG deal to me. just though id ask for some imput and see what you guys had to say....
