That was becasue he wanted cheaper tires. S03s will run you 800+ for a set of four.

Good luck with your quest!

I realize someone already mentioned them, but I too like my S-03s in 17" size that I used when I replaced my S-02 OEM 16s with new wheels.

I've heard good things about the stock '04 tires. Check the tire and wheel forum for some more details.

So far the RE050 feel a little stickier than the S-02 to me, even in the dry.

i am sure that they are good tires, they are just so damn expensive. i was maybe looking for something with the same bang for the buck, with a little less buck. maybe like 600 for the 4. 800 just seems like alot to me. im sure they are worth every penny, i am just a college student waiting tables.....

Then the question must be asked:

Why would a college student waiting tables purchase a $32,000 sports car, and then cringe at the thought of an extra $200 for tires?

I'm not flaming, I'm just trying to understand your logic. And yes, the stock RSX Type S tires were shit (I owned one for 7 months). Any tire you use for the S2000 will be better, but the requirements for this car are also quite a bit higher.

You really need to rethink if this car is for you. Tires are the biggest dollar item will you replacing.

If you skimp and try to extent the tires beyond their usefull life, it will cost you more then the cost of the tires. It will cost you your car, and maybe your life. There are just too many of those stories posted here.

Think of tires as insurance, every 6 months you will have to pay. My guess is that you being Male, under 25 will already stretch your already slim finances.

MY04 OEM Tires
Bridgestone Potenza RE050 $732.00

MY00-03 OEM Tires
Bridgestone Potenza S-02 $616.00

Kumho Ecsta MX $492.00
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 $738.00

I am already thinking about tire replacements on the mY04, which will likely "time out" on the tires before they "wear out". (Heat cycling and all that). I only run about 3k miles/year.

I have found the RE050's to be excellent compromises - very good in dry, warm; fair in cold, good in rain (I am told - have never driven mine in rain).

But my needs are different than factory compromises, so i will be seeking the ultimate dry tire. Perhaps AVS intermediates, Michelin Pilot Sports (not their All-season crap), Kumho racers, etc. Mileage and rain peformance are not in the mix, so a hard-core tire is what i seek.

I think as more miles are run on the cars, as more people post suspension settings, etc. the "knowledge base" will increase. Really, the suspension settings should be a priority, as they will affect tire "feel" more than any other variable.
