well as for people saying 01, 02, and even 03 would have been the last years you kind of have to think of it from a business stand point... What would have been the point for honda to throw all this money in the design and testing that a car takes to just discontinue it after 1-3 years...that jsut doesnt make since in my opinion....But you have to realize that it is at its 6th year now....so time is running out......If my06 is not the last year......my07 will most likely be.....lol or maybe my08.....idk

Hey, the whole "why make changes for a one year run" argument was yours not mine.

So let's see, you suggested a company wouldn't make changes for a one year run, but Honda made changes. You say that this 'feeling' you have comes from rumours, but we've had the same rumour since the S came out 6 years ago. You say Honda have certain patterns but to date they have been:

00-01 - Original AP1
02-03 - Minor revisions to AP1
04-05 - AP2
06-XX - Minor revisions to AP2

If I were a betting man I'd suggest that XX represent '07'.

You are smoking some interesting crack, my friend. Honda would not have made the "refresh" changes they made (new wheels, new seats, new throttle and computers, etc.) if they were planning to cancel the car after 06. Why would they sink the design and tooling costs?

I expect the S2K to actually hang around as a low volume "bring 'em in to the showroom" car as long as the NSX.

The 04-05 car is actually an AP1 in Europe (AP2 just indicates the 2.2l engine). 04 is just a facelift of 00-03 car. 06 is same as 04 but with VSA and DBW. 06 will still be an AP1 in Europe.

We still get the 2L here in Aus too but I'm not sure of the model designation. There were quite a few changes such as the front and rear bars, exhaust, lights, interior, suspension and gear ratios.

Aus, any thoughts on whether or not the AEM EMS will work on the '06?

To early to say. I guess the simple answer is, if it uses the same ECU then yes, otherwise no.

That of course assumes that the VSA or whatever is an autonomous system and their is still an analogue TPS signal (not sure if that would be at the throttle, at the pedal (not likely), or an internal signal in the VSA).

I guess it is also possible that the VSA is a part of the ECU but that the car can run without it (as it can run without the Secondary Air pump for example).

I really think it is a matter of wait and see. And don't be surprised when AEM or another manufacturer update their ECU to work with it.

All those changes are minor really. It is essentially the same car. After all you can take a 00 and make it a 04 S spending a few $$s.

Check the VINs of the 04/05s in your country. They include AP1. At least in Europe they do.

Hmmm, sort of. It has a slightly different pressing for the rear section (ask anyone who is trying to install 04 lights on a 00-03), different suspension and gearbox, differnet instrument cluster and quite a few changes to the interior. If it was a facelift the 01-02 and 05-06 changes were just touching up the makeup.
