Yup.. this is the ONLY other thing not so 'pure sport' with S2000... IMHO.
Another is the leather interior.
Thats why S2000 weighs 2800lb(?) while other similar sized roadster
like Miata (2400-2600lb?) and MR-S (2200-2400lb?) weighs alot less.
(Please dont bring up the looks yada yada... i'm only talking about their
weight)

I thought S2000 come with security system standard??
How about keyless entry?

8k dollars + your 01 for an 02, the must be smoking some good !@##.
that is just sooo crazy!! i have a 01 with 7k miles, the most i would be willing to loose is maybe 3k at the most, dont forget, even at 3k, you still have to repay the tax. which will run another 2k.
so total of 5k. for what?, a little glass window, crappy tweeters?
sheesh for that much, i should just spend the 5k on aftermarket parts...

Power does not necessarily mean height adjustable. The NSX's power seats do not go up and down.

On the other hand, the RSX seats are height adjustable manually. For most of us, the S2000 seats needs to go down, not up

I agree. . .I wish Honda would incorporate simple "luxuries" like an auto off headlight feature and a standard security system.

Are you sure about that? We Jerseyites only have to pay tax on the $3k, not the whole $32.8.

It's already January. I would say wait another 9 months and trade in the 01' for the '03.

Just to clarify, I realize the S2k is a sports car first and a beautiful, incredibly fun car to drive. However, I'm just a smidgeon over 5' and the seats sit too low for me to be comfortable when driving without the not-so-cool seat pad. When I test drove one in '99, I was just a tad too infatuated with the car to notice my inability to see clearly over the steering wheel. Staying on-topic, I would have traded up for an '02 if the option had been available for power seats as I never tracked the car, therefore weight was of no concern. So instead, today I traded in my red rocket for a BMW 330ci. For some reason I keep hearing the song "I can see clearly now."

Since I've driven nothing but Honda's for the past 20 years, there's a strong likelihood I'd switch back if Honda produced the S2k with at least a second trim line that included power seats for the vertically challenged.

As far as taxes are concerned, at least in Texas, you only pay sales tax on the difference of the trade-in and the new.

Whatever you choose, enjoy! The s2k is the most fun I've ever had driving a car.

I think you could have had your seat raised at the expense of anyone taller not being able to drive it comfortably or safely...

BTW, my mother is 4' 10" and she has been driving a '98 Prelude and prior to that an '84 Prelude...

Preludes sit higher. I had an '84 and sold it for an '87 Si that I drove for 13 years. Fit me perfectly and had zero visibility issues. As far as raising the seat, that's been done and discussed quite a bit on the board but I was never comfortable with the idea. IIRC, people were only able to raise it a fraction, not what I needed and it didn't sound safe to me. Tilt steering probably would have helped. Oh well, nbd anymore.
