need advice on purchase...
Ok...heres what I have found. Its a MY2000 with 38,000 miles, Silverstone with Red Interior. I really love the color combo but am worried about some of the engine and clutch problems noted here on this site. I am not sure if the car has an extended warranty or not, but if not I would have to pay for the TSB's. I did check the honda owner link and the car has had the convertible top and seatbelt recalls fixed. Is there anyway for me to find out if any of the TSB's have been done to the car? Is this to high risk of a purchase being a MY2000? I currently have a 2000 Prelude Type SH and am quite happy with that, but am looking for a little more power and just something different. Let me know what you guys think about this vehicle. Any tips on what to look for would be great!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Are you buying this car from a dealer or a private seller. Also, how much are they asking for the car? The car is a good car, but like all things made by man, it's not perfect and will one day break. As far as the TSB's, it's really up to the manager at the place that you take it in to. They can perform a TSB on good-faith, but it's their decision whether they want to do it or not.
it sounds exactly like mine except I have 32k. I traded in a 2001 Acura CL-S last April and I have never had any regrets. Make sure you don't mind a car that doesn't drive well in snow and doesn't have any room.
As far as the TSBs...the clutch fix just makes the clutch quieter. There is nothing mechanically wrong with the clutch. If you can't get it done for free, just wait till you wear out your clutch before replacing it.
You'll want to make sure the spark plug TSB (or recall??) is done because the original spark plugs tend to come loose. This is obviously cheap and shouldn't be an issue as to whether or not you buy the car.
Good luck
ps...how much are they asking for the car?

Thanks for the info guys. To answer your question about the price.... $24,900. Is this a good deal? Its for sale at a BMW/Porsche/VW place. It has the OEM front lip and rear spoiler too. The car is really clean inside and out. No scratches dings or dents. Interior looks like it was never used either. I have yet to test drive this car yet. Is there anything I should look for during the drive?
