Need advice on purchasing new S2000-DFW area
I located an S2000 at MSRP that I like. My question, not putting down the car, just need your real world experience: Do you get used to the engine noise after awhile? I love the handling- puts my Z3 2.3 to shame. But when I got back in my Z3, it seemed so much smoother and easier to drive in traffic. Sweeter drive train matched to a looser suspension. My 'lease' is up on my Z3 and I'm wondering if any Z3 owners are very happy to switch to the S2000 or are there regreats?
The S is my everyday drive. About 5 miles on back roads and about 7 miles on I35. I feel more comfortable and in control in the S then I do in our SUV. The engine "noise" is about perception. To me I love to hear the RPM's go up. Music to my ears. To others it is too noisy. I think you have to make the call as to how the car fits your driving style and personal likes. For me the S is a great car.
As a point of reference I went from a '95 TransAm to the S. Very glad that I made the switch.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now. Not only have I become accustomed to the engine noise, I sometimes wish it was a bit louder.
The engine is the heart of this car, and it's not always easy to drive. Wasn't designed to be. Just wait until you learn how to push it to the limit and you will see why we love the car and are willing to sacrifice some comfort.
You may be able to lower the tire inflation to get a bit more smoothness as you get used to it. But remember that the suspension is very tight. If you get Starbucks, be sure to bring a towel
Those damn cups spurt more reliably than Old Faithful.
I think it has made an excellent daily driver. Well, as good as it can get in a roadster.
