I recently got in an accident (not my fault) and might have totaled my Acura CL-S. I am considering an S2000 as a replacement even though I live in rainy seattle. My main concerns are insurance prices on S2000, wet weather stability, and safety.

I am 19, but the car will be under my moms name. My insurace company is currently costco/AMEX. My insurance on the CL-S wasn't cheap, but I wanted to know if you think an S2000 would be higher.

CL-S
3.2L 260hp
~$30k car new
4 seats
front and side airbags

S2000
2.0L 240hp
~$30k car new
2 seats
front airbags only?

They seem like pretty close cars in terms as insurance would be concerned. What do you think?

BTW im considering a used one.

Yes, it will be higher, but probably not much. Welcome aboard by the way. There is a really good PacNW group and I there is at least one other Kent resident on the board here. Check the PacNW forum if you get a chance.

I almost bought a 2003 CL-Type S and checked into the insurance. It would have been $398 for 6 months. My MY02 Stook runs $694, so its considerably more and I'm 43. Are you sure you can afford an S? Between the payment, maintnance, insurance and tires, its not a cheap car to own.

well my insurance is like 1500 for six months and it was higher before I was able to switch to costco.

But yeah I think it would definately have to get new all season tires.

For wet weather traction and wet weather safety, I would recommend a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
4dr Sport Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 5M) Horsepower: 271 hp
Torque: 273 ft-lbs.

Please test drive an EVO and you will like it.

Peace.

I'm thinking of getting a used S2000 though. I've seen them listed from $22-$25k on autotrader. An evo would be sweet but a guy I know paid $32k for his. I don't want to spend that much. Plus I hear they have rust problems and thats never good especially in WA.
