Need Advice on Ticket
Thanks guys. It was on private property that I work on, and we're checking into that.
mbilderback or others - Is it true that local ordinances don't count against you insurance. That is my main concern in this situation. I'm in Ohio for those wondering about state laws.
Today on my lunch break I went to the police station and asked for a copy of all local ordinances having to due with moving violations, particularly 331.13. The suprise of knowing the code off hand prompted the officer to drag out the code book and show me said code. It stated something along the lines of no individual shall begin to move a vehicle that is parked, stopped..untill it is safe to make such a movement. To me this sounds like it applies more to someone pulling out in front of someone, where the timing of the action is more the problem than the action itself.
After trying to give me the run-around about the code, they said they could have a copy of all of them ready by Friday, charged by the page for copies.

rworne - I'm fairly sure that's the exact code listed. I couldn't find it in Ohio revised code when I searched though. I know for a fact that they say tough sh!t to fender benders in that lot, because I work there, and have seen it happen. Things seem to be looking up

Again, all things are subject to the specifics of the local court systems and local laws. There's a small town around here that will not only issue you a ticket for 1 over, but the judge will uphold the ticket and make you pay. This is because over 50% (No exaggeration here, it's fact) of the local town's income is through traffic violations. The town is situated on a major highway leading to the majority of towns on this side of the state so it sees a lot of passing through traffic. These are the guys the cops target.
