Default need clutch replacement at 3000 k ?

well this is my first post, but is it normal for the clutch to be replaced at such low miles? I did bring it to the dealership and they told me they would have to check out the clutch and see what the problem is. Then they would report it to the honda headquarters to see if it would be under warranty. If not then I would have to pay for the surgery. Does anyone know if there is any warranty on the clutch?

Thanks for the replies

As far as I know its covered under the factory warranty. I was told I can replace the clutch as many times as I want aslong as its under waranty(and ofcoarse really messed up) so im pretty sure they should fix it for free.

I have always understood that a clutch is a "wearable" component like brake pads. If there is a fault due to a manufacturing defect then a warranty claim would be valid, if it were simply due to wear then that would likely not be a warranty replacement.

Given the car has only 3000 miles on it it would seem likely that the clutch is faulty and should be replaced under warranty.

Unless S2Kbure has been doing clutch drops and smoking burn-outs for the last 2400 miles (they certainly wouldn't have been done before the 600 mile break-in period ).

Seriosly, what Tifosi Red said is true. The dealer will evalute whether the car has been abused and if not the item should be warranteed. Good luck with the repair and I hope that you're back on the road soon.

Warranty work, especially of a wear item is at the option of AHM. They declined to replace my clutch saying it was normal wear (second one.. they did the first at ~7K miles as part of the noise TSB). Of course these are the same desk jockeys that are now telling me the 1-2 grind after TSB is driver error. It is interesting to explain the situation to someone who has never driven an S2000.
