With an untuned VTEC controller, you won't gain any power. Even if you made it to where VTEC kicks in sooner, you experiance a dip in power.

After you do your intake manifold mod, make sure you get that VTEC controller tuned properly.

This biggest myth about the VTEC controller is instant power by moving back the engagement point. Most people neglect to realize that your ECU's af map is tuned properly for the stock VTEC engagement point, and that by tricking the VTEC solinoid to engage, you're getting improper af mix, resulting in loss of power, possibly even detination....

Just some food for thought.....
true but you can fix those probs by tuning the vafc accordlingly. my vtec is set at 5700 and my AFR are set to match that set point. car goes like stink set that way.

I know about the myth.. and I wasn't expecting any power from it.. just haven't had the time to get it done. And for $70 an hour for a whole day seems like a lot JUST for a vafc..

ANyways, thanks for the replies guys! Once I get the project done, I will deffinately tune because of the af ration being off just from having a bigger TB and intake mani.

And to Emil..

I'm not butt hurt.. don't worry. I read your posts all the time and 90% of the time they make me laugh. To each his own, right?

And you think, you have a lot of "expience"... and you know everything...
Well Mister,I'm very sorry, but that guy won't make "a bunch of H.P."on a Hondata, and an AEM intake, and Espelir exhaust;but he will make a lot of noise...just like you, with your big mouth...

I happen to think that 221whp (especially on a mustang dyno) N/A is extremely respectable.

Emil I'm sorry but I have to agree with version. You are very set in your ways and don't seem to understand what happens when people tune. I'm not saying that a V2 and espilir exhaust is a bangin' setup, but the comment you made is just unnecessary.

To the O.P. if you want to make big power you're going to need a new exhaust. A larger piping single exhaust is going to flow a lot better and help you make even more power when you tune.
