Funny how you mention that, because I have the same kind of tear except its on the driver's side. I'm hoping to have my soft top changed soon with a glass rear window.

I think it will be covered. It is times like this that it would be nice to have a good relationship built up with a local dealership, 'cause I think that they would be more will to go to bat for you with Honda Canada...

My top has developed very similar holes (same location but different shape) twice. If your car is under warranty, take it to the dealer and see if they'll replace the top. I got my top replaced under warranty the first time it happened.

The second time it happened to me, my car was out of warranty, and the extended warranty didn't cover it. So, now, I just keep the top up to prevent the hole from spreading.

I agree with Uncle Fester, there is a metal piece underneath that part of the top. When the top goes up and down, it seems to rub against that piece and eventually wears a hole. I've had a couple of upholstery shops look at it, and they all agree that that's probably the cause of the problem.

It should be covered under warranty. That's about where my tears were, one on each side.

I have that same hole on my driver's side. The AHM rep for my area (Richmond, VA) would not even LOOK at it. His response to my dealership was, "The guy bought a convertible...ragtops wear" .

At the time I'd requested this be looked at I had ~ 62K miles on the car. Well outside of original warranty. But I'd hoped Honda might recognize a "One-Time Good Faith" repair/replacement given how I treat my S2000. Azz never even bothered to look at it...much less offer me a "How do you do" . And unfortunately, (or unbelievably...you decide), my aftermarket warranty coverage that I purchased from my Honda dealership ~ 8 months ago considers a convertible top TRIM...and you guessed it, they don't warranty trim pieces. How nice .

Grrrr....

PS. Mostly posted so this thread might keep tally of folks that have same wear in same area. This is DEFINITELY a design flaw in the underpinning framework at this hinged/pivot point on the carcass. Metalwork underneath has worn the hole in my top exactly as has been expressed by others posting here...
