Default need help re purchase-s2k?

I need help on a purchase. I am in the market for a fun second car- will not be daily driver. Within last two years have sold TT Supra, C5 and Boxter. Now drive 330i. Need a sports car again for fun.

Test drove 350z, Lancer Evo IX MR, and used M3. Never considered s2K but a friend of mine told me to test. Took for a brief spin (in city traffic). I never thought about VTEC but it was awesome. So now I don't know- was set on M3 (know owner and comes with 1 year left on warranty so not concerned) and thought back up would be MR (I loved the drive) but the s2K really has got me thinking that maybe this is the car for me. It was the VTEC concept of shifting at 8 grand that has me hooked. I will take for longer drive.

So question is- how does this perform on the track- I saw Nov. 06 Car and Driver had a track comparison and MR and Z did well- can I expect the same performance from s2K? (I plan to track alot)

I guess what I am trying to say is that I thought I had this all figured out (Honda never even considered) and then I drove this s2k and I know I am leaning toward it for many reasons that have surprised me. Are there any links for track performance for quick reference?

Thanks.

If you think shifting at 8k is fun, go test drive an AP1 (00-03)! Also, the E46 M3 has an 8000-rpm redline as well.

As far as tracking goes, I'm new to all this and I'm sure the track and suspension junkies will chime in. I feel as though the 350z would do better on looser tracks while the S2000 doing good on tight tracks. I have driven a 350z and I feel as though the S2000 has a higher fun factor to it. I daily drive my car more often than I hit the track so the s2000 appealed to me more so than a 350z. The M3 was out of my price range but I'm sure that's an excellent car!

S2000 was built for track/auto x. I'd rather have a s2k for the tracks than any other car in it's class.

was considering the E46 M3 before I bought the S but the fun factor surpassed the M3...so here I am.
Just wanted a little more power so i got a S/C

I've been told by many former S2K owners and current M3 owners that the S really is more fun overall.

Don't get me wrong, the M3 is quicker, but also much heavier.

I was in the same boat you were when i was car shopping. I had an EK hatchback civic and swore I wouldn't get another honda. I was really leaning towards the 350z but a friend convinced me to test drive an s2k. I was so impressed with the car on my test drive that i just had to have it. 3 years later im still happy, I almost sold it a month ago but couldnt bring myself to do it. I'm almost 100% sure im keeping my S for life.

And you ask if this car performs well on a track, and that awnser is yes. This car was designed to shine on a track; the powerband, handling, stiff chasis, etc etc...This car seriously sounds right for you from what your describing you want. And do you really need any help deciding? You took a test drive, loved it, and went and signed up for this site. Do yourself a favor and go get it.
