Default Need help - With stalled engine from Starbucks - LIVE!

Hi all, I got new engine a week ago. This morning (yes, it is still morning in Cali) I went to work and stopped to get my latte. Well - now I am sitting at starbucks because the engine won't start again. I am waiting for flatbad which I have yet to call once I would find the one I used two weeks ago when my rods broke.

Symptoms: The starter is going on and on and the engine won't start. No warnings lights etc. I noticed that after I got my car back the speedometer went crazy and shown 30mph when I was going over 80 on the highway.

Any idea what should I check? LIVE!

If you don't mind potentially losing the real cause of the problem (CEL code), I suggest yanking the ECU fuse to reset it. It probably won't solve your problem, but it's an easy thing to do as a start until you can get it in to a shop.

Starter running means the battery/alternator are working.

I'm no mechanic, so this is only a guess - I had a Reault that had the same problem. It just wasn't getting any spark. After I replace the computer control, ($110 + labor), I found out it was a $10 fly wheel senor that told the computer when to supply spark. Since your digital speedometer went nuts, could it be the ignition computer or senors? If the computer is being "told" by the sensor that it isn't running, it will not supply spark.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this would only happen after the car had warmed up, and got hot enough to separate the connection in the senor cord. Diagnostics was simple. Use a can of freon gas to "freeze the sensor. If the car starts up, the sensor was bad.

By the way, be glad you broke down near a starbucks. My experience was one of those "life" lessons you don't want to have happen.

I gave up, the truck is on its way. Thanks for the help you all. I never thought I'd become a proud sponsor of a towing company, I will send the bill to Honda:-)

Yeah, being stranded never is fun. At least you were in a populated area with Internet Access. Almost like being at work. Hey, I'm curious if you found out the reason of why the rods broke. We're you running a supercharger on there?
