Default Need Help, storage in chicago or shipping company recommendations??

Guys,

Well it's been a long time but I'm finally going to pick up my 2002 S2000 this weekend. I understand it's not the best time to be getting it in chicago, but I'm getting a good deal.

I have two questions, first, any other chicagoans out there know of a place I can store my s2000 for the winter? I live down in the North loop and don't have a parking spot at the moment.

An alternative (which I'm leaning towards) is shipping my car out to california to my folks. I had my integra shipped out here before for about $800, but wasn't that pleased with the service. Any good recommendations for a shipping company? I'm trying to spend no more than $800 and am concerned about quality, etc since the car is brand new.

Thanks!

What color you buy? I'm from Chicago also, your best bet is probably try and rent someone's garage. I don't know of any places that let you leave your car there, but one of my friends rented someone's garage. See ya around!

Yeah, my place with the key in the ignition! Sorry, I know that wasn't helpful. I have no suggestions/recommendations either.

How about one of those self storage places. I don't know if they will let you park a car there, but I don't see why not.

Welcome to the Chicago club! What dealer did you get it from?

I think you would have good luck by renting a garage or storage space in the 'burbs somewhere. It's got to be less that the ~1600 dollars you would spend on shipping it to Cali. Plus you could visit it!

And check out the Meets and Events forum...we have a Chicago dinner/drinks thing on Dec 20.

And congrats!

But if you do ship, use Intercity Lines...they are on of the S2KCA's sponsors...

thanks for the responses. mine'll be sebring silver/black.

anyone know of someone renting out garage space or alternatively where i might look?

i think i'll end up shipping it though and driving it back when the weather is better. this way i don't have to have the car insured while it sits in my parents' garage.

A good place to look for garage spaces for rent is the Chicago Reader.

Look under there classifieds in the space catagory - that's how I got my parking space...
