Default Need inputs ^^

Hi ppl,

I just got my S2K last week in yellow color hehehe . After 3 weeks of hard brain work and thinking i chose the S2K over the EVO. I am new to RWD, so i just wanted to know how hard is it or how to control RWD cars properly? what are the difficulties and how tackle the problems..

i read some post in which ppl who dont know how to control them smashed their car on a corner due to not being to handle it properly? I haven't driven it hard yet because it is still in the break in period =). so much insight and opinion will be very helpful! thankS!

Find an autox in your area and begin learning how to control the car in a safe environment. Post in your local s2ki forum to find some autoxers near you to teach you the ropes.

best place to start. Or better yet, take a RWD safty/performance driving school. Meet up with some locals, make friends! This car is one way to make friends for life! I had an RX7, but quickly dropped it for an S2K due to the comunity (other than the car itself). So, run along, meet people! You will be supprised by how much most owners have in common.

If you're still in "break-in" then I'm assuming you bought a new one?

Leave the VSA on during wet weather and don't wait for your tires to be bald before replacing them.

just control the gas in the corners--don't step on it too hard, but you also can't let off of it too hard. and don't give it too much gas if the wheel is turned more than 45 degrees to the left or right.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

Check out little free mods such as:

- Top down while rolling
- A/C off while defrosting (may or may not work on '07 or '08, I dunno)
- Check DIY section in Under The Hood for more

Be careful of performance mods if you want to retain warranty coverage. Check your regional forum for the best local dealers, and ask for advice from your local members when considering service or work at any shop.

Like CKit said, WATCH YOUR TIRES. A little look back at the past 6 weeks will prove to you that people who continue driving on bald/ing tires are continually crashing. Don't be one of them.

Go out to AutoX or if you have a decent road track around book a performance or safety driving course. You'll probably hear about those in your regional forum as well.

Have a good time!

Since everyone can't make it to an Auto X event on day 2 of ownership, here are some pointers.

1) Let your tires warm up before taking corners too hard. Drive the car for at least 5-10 minutes

2) Don't accelerate in corners.

3) Don't down shift in corners

4) You are probably use to a car understeering, meaning that when you corner too hard, the car doesn't hit the turn as well as you want it too. RWD is the opposite. If you take a corner too hard, you will oversteer and end up turing your car around.

The tips I just gave you should help you out a bit. Just remember physics. Don't get your rear tires spinning to much faster than your fronts or you'll turn your car around.

Also, remember, this car is not Superman. People get this car and think that they are invicible. The car will still mess you up, in fact, driving a Civic hard is probably safer because it is FWD.

Make good judgements and you should be ok. Also, remember that bumps can really affect your balance. Approach them with caution, especially in turns.

I agree with what pretty much everyone else has said.

Also remember to be gentle with any inputs (steering, gas, brake). While we may not have the torque of some cars, its still obviously very easy to make the rear wheels spin in a turn, even out of vtec. However, if you're gentle with how you turn and apply the gas, I've found the car to be very controllable and fairly easy to correct. . .you just have to be aware that the rear wheels are starting to slip and back off a tad to let them grip again.

Autocross is a big help with knowing when thats about to happen.

I drifted the crap outta mine when it rained to learn how to control the car in a dry slide, then I started drifting everywhere lol. Autocross will teach a you a ton about how to control the car, took me about 3-4 events to get the hang of it, I'm still improving though.
