The GM seemed to be really respectful of whatever my decision was, but what I'm wondering now if I should just give up and go for another color, or whether to stick w/the blue that they claim will be fine, or whether to just drop the dealer, ask for my deposit back, and go to the other dealer where I can only get a white one, which I dont really want (no offense to all the GPW owners out there).

I'm hesitant to go to another dealer, because I got the car for invoice from these guys, and the blue stole my heart we have a contract and receipt for the deposit already, and this dealer did get the honda president's award in 2002.. so im assuming that they aren't really that bad.. but I don't know..

Get your deposit back and walk away. If what the GM said is actually true, the last thing you want/need is a new car that's been on a frame bending machine. Go to another dealership and get a car that hasn't been messed with if you really want the blue. Do not under any circumstance take this car!!!

[B]thanks for all the responses guys - so heres the thing: I called the GM at the dealership today, and he told me this: that the car was put on the trailer, but they 'overtorqued the car', and the frame is slightly out of place.

Get the VIN number of the damaged car. When another dealer finds a blue one for you, check the VIN!

Why do you want to pay a brand new price for a car that has been repaired? I think you're a little too "anxious" to get the car. If you get the car, you should get a discount. But I'd shop elsewhere.

President's Award? You should read my experience with Power Honda. They won the same President's Award. My experience with them was HORRIBLE.

also, i had checked around my area for at least like 8 other dealerships, and they didn't have blue, and they wouldn't give me a price lower than 30.5k, which is at least 500 too much IMO
They wouldn't absolutely give you 30,000? Hmm. Even if you told them you could get it for 30,000 somewhere else? I'd pay 500 more for better service actually... But I'd be patient. The closer it gets to the MY 04 release date, the more dealers will work with you.

If it were me I'd get the deposit back immediately. Once I had it in my hand I'd proceed to let them know that they need not worry about receiving the President's Award again after I report this whole story to Honda Ltd. I'd let them know that they can expect some serious hell raising from one very dissatified customer.

No one should be jacked around like this.

totally agree...first ask for the vin of the damaged one...then tell them. I want a different blue one thats free of any deffect as the contract says....search the entire US..they HAVE to honor a contract, or theaten them with AHM and the internet etc....

I would watch the wording when talking to the dealer, typical human instinct to a "threat" is to defend, in car sales this typically ends up in a refusal of sale. Could you hold them to the deal, sure, but most dealerships know that the common consumer will never press the legalities.

Be polite and courteous, they may be telling you the truth on the vehicle getting damaged and should be commended for that honesty (always a good way to start conversations with a dealer, a nice "thank you for being honest...but..."). You then ask them to search other Honda dealership inventory in the U.S. and locate a blue one, let them know you will be searching when you get home as well. If they or you are truly unable to find a blue then the decision to take another color is entirely up to you, you don't have to so don't feel locked into a deal or presured.

If they refuse to search for a blue one or they tell you that it may cost more then you have a bad dealer and you should contact AHMC, don't tell them that you are, just give them a polite, "I'll have to go home and consider that" and call AHMC from home. If AHMC is able to help you in any way, they will have a much easier time with the dealership if there is no previous bad blood, they will typically take the side of the dealer in bad blood cases. If you come across with AHMC as just a really nice customer that had his heart set on a blue one and the one you wanted got damaged in shipment to the dealer they will most likely do everything they can to get one to you.

If you need any help with this situation, I'm more than happy to assist.

In no event would I accept an s2k as new that has had a repaired bent frame. So much of the s2k's appeal is based on it's accurate and razor sharp handling, and so much of that is based on the car's frame. And the car has a very strong frame that required some great forces to bend. Compared to it, a Z4 feels like driving a rubber band! So whatever you do, walk away from THAT car.

Has your dealer checked his network to confirm that there are no blue '03s left, or is he just guessing? I'd do what it took to find out.

Good luck,
Richard
