Update! I got into the trunk this weekend. It was totally dry behind and in the spare tire area. I took out all of the liners. Then I poured water through each of the trunk seams. I also poured water through the top's sides to see where the water drained. And guess what? The water appears to not get in through the top or any of the trunk seams. Another interesting fact. When I removed the floor liner, before I did my water testing, the felt under the flat right side of the liner was soaking wet -- the opposite side from the gas filer pipe. That side's felt was stone dry. Me thinks that the water is somehow coming up from the wheel well. Any thoughts on this? I did have the right real panel replaced after my accident last September. Just to ensure that the water at the bottom of the trunk drains, I drilled two holes through what looks like two plastic drain plugs at the bottom of the trunk. (I couldn't remove them!).
The ticking saga goes on. Now I'm thinking that it does get a bit faster with added speed. It is driving me nuts. It sounds to me that it is a bit louder in the left rear. Also, it does not disappear over 80. I still can hear it, but it's not quite as distinct. It seems to change a bit in connection with the car floating up and down. I'm totally at a loss.

I give up. I'm taking the car in tomorrow AM for service. I'm beginning to believe that it's the differential . . . . I'll let you guys know what happens. In the meantime, thanks for your help.

I just got a call from the shop (Criswell Honda). They think that they have found it. It's the left abs sensor. Three of the teeth show contact and some corrosion. Their overnighting the part and it should be done tomorrow. The trunk leak was caused by a seam in the wheel well that was repaired after my accident. Apparently it was not sealed appropriately. The body shop, Rockville Auto Body, is standing behind its work and will pay for the costs of the Honda place finding the problem ($150). They also will buy me a new bottom trunk liner. Whew! I hope this fixes the tick. We'll find out for sure tomorrow!
