I'm in a bit of a pickle. I just picked up some AP2 headlights complete with bulbs, ballasts, and ignitors. Problem is that every single mounting tab on the driver side headlight is broken...the person failed to mention this but I got them for pretty cheap so I'm going to try to salvage it.

I was wondering if it would be possible to take an AP1 headlight and remove all of its internals and then replace them with the AP2 internals?
This would in essence give me a new AP2 headlight, complete with tabs on the outter housing.

Anyone have any clue if this is actually possible?

It seems like it would be a pretty straight forward swap but I've yet to open any S2000 headlights

I really want to salvage these headlights, I think I'm going to find an AP1 outer housing and give it a go. I can't see the outer headlight housings being too terribly different.

 

Retrofit is where you mount projectors inside a car's headlights that don't normally have projectors. A much better alternative to an HID kit with lots of glare.

Oh yeah, I know about retrofitting, I was just trying to figure out what you meant by me doing a retrofit since I don't have any other cars that need HID's haha!

I'm not convinced yet that it can't be done; I'm trying to acquire an old AP1 housing to tinker with.
