I would like to remove my black rtim tape but I get nervous reading all the problems.
Can someone generate a survey of owners that have removed the tape vs no problems, minor problems(ie:cleaner wax fix), major problems(needed to get painted), and NO, NO, don't do it.

Personally I have seen pictures of the silver naked and I dont like it!!!

The only one that looks GOOD with it off is the red. Yellow and white just stand out to much.

If you want to start a poll just start one hit poll and fill it out!

imo, if you're not getting a color matched hardtop, keep the tape on.

And keep in mind, there might be scratches underneath the tape. Some owners have reported having these scratches once they peeled off the tape. It must be from the factory.

In fact, I was just at the local dealer yesterday and checked out a brand new yellow one with the tape off. And guess what? It had some very noticeable 'blotches'/scratches on the passenger side A-pillar.

No problems and love the look without tape. Tape is for paper, broke pipes, striped wires, and tears. Not cars.

I'd probably leave the tape on, since the top of the windshield area is a popular place to put one's hand to haul themselves out of the seat. If they had rings on, that'd be bad.

Also, its one less awkward place to wax.

Also, I think it breaks the lines of the car too much to distract the eye with color up the pillars.

IMHO, of course.

How well does the tape stand up to the elements? I mean is the tape going to fade in two years... and I take the tape off and the pillars won't match the rest of the car etc.

ideas?

thanks,

Until now I haven't considered removing the tape. I didn't want to worry about the scratches some people have found underneath the tape and I don't have a strong preference either way. However, last weekend I was washing/waxing my baby and I found that the tape on one side is starting to peel up. It's real minor at this point but I'm wondering if at some point I might be forced to take the tape off. I've had the car for about 18 months and 30k miles.
