I got into an argument with a dealer who tried to tell me the DBW is faster than a throttle cable...... I'm under the impression that is impossible because the cable is instantaneous where as DBW needs to send a signal to the computer, then to the throttlebody.

Right?

Don't knock the DBW until you've tried it. I doubt you're keen enough to even notice a difference, if there is any.

We just did a vote on favourite wheels. Seems like the new wheels are the least popular one.

Right?
The DBW is a part of VSA, not a change made to improve or change the throttle response, but the dealer may be right about DBW being quicker, beuase a cable system has to have a little slack to allow the throttle to close fully. It should not make any difference at all once you adjust to the lack of free play in the system, and it probably takes little or no adjustment. Not a performance mod though, unless you count VSA as a performance enhancer (and in some conditions it is).

Hahaha, how long does it take the electricity to get to a light bulb when you flip the switch? That's about how long it takes for the signal to get from the throttle position sensor to the ECU and back out to the TB. Processing time is apt to be the biggest source of delay, but the total dealy will still be miniscule.

You're right. I apologize...I was a little toasty while searching S2ki and took offense to the post. I didn't realize at the time about the DBW post....I instantly thought about VSA.

The only thing I know I would loathe is the drive by wire system, but thats just me.
Matt I'm curious to how much time you have behind the wheel of a DBW S2k? I only ask because I've had 3 s2ks and have driven many of our local s2ks (ap1s and ap2s) at numerous track days and autocrosses and the DBW on this car is fantastic. The difference in response isn't even noticable. If I was never told my car had DBW I would honestly never know.

I agree. I had an 01 and now my 07. I can't tell the difference at all. There is no lag/delay at all. I'm in favor of the VSA because I am more at ease in the rain. I purposely tried to get silly when it was wet, and it didn't let me.
