I have had DBW cars before (STI) and noticed no latency. I had a cable-throttle S2K for a short while, then moved to a DBW '07. I really don't notice a difference, or more specifically, any latency. I think at least with this car, any DBW "lag" is purely in the operators head.

On the subject of VSA... I don't consciously go anywhere near the limits of the car on the street, and I agree, it really is not that intrusive, and it's a great "crutch" or extra little safety margin for when you don't feel like testing your skill, but want a fun drive. On the street is not the place to "test your skill."

At AutoX or in an empty parking lot or other "safe" zone free of obstructions, children, puppies, and other cute flattenable things I would turn it off and "play." But on the street, I'll take any additional safety measure I can get.
