Default New To The Board

Hello to everyone on here. I just joined because i am thinking about getting a S2000 for my next car. Right now i own a 2002 Civic SI. I am just curious what you all think of your car and if you have owned or driven an 02+ hatch how it compares.

Also, the only thing i am really worried about is the insurance cost and any little quirks the s2000 has. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say most people on this site liked the S2000 so much they bought one.

why don't you call your insurance and get a quote. it might be lower than what you are expecting.

as for quirks, the only thing would be pushing the car beyond your driving abilities. unlike your fwd civic, an s2000 has a tendency of losing its rear end especially in the rain and/or from jerky/abrupt inputs. if you scan through past threads, you'll read a lot of stories of guys losing control of their s2k and spinning out, especially in the rain. other than that, a civic si really can't even come close to the s2000 in terms of performance and thrill of driving.

I had been driving Front drivers since 1984 with my first Honda. When I got my S2000 last August it took a little time to relearn the art of rear drive in regards to wet conditions.I've only been caught in the rain twice in the S,you just need to be cautious that's all.I have an Accord as a poor weather car so going back and forth is no big deal.

The S2000 does require your attention when one is driving "spiritedly"and as a rule of thumb checking of vital fluids at every fill-up. I have about 10k on the rear tires and if I'm lucky I won't need to replace them till next spring.

Our car is all about fun and if that is what you are looking for I can't think of a better choice for the money

Enjoy~

I went from an ep3 to an S 2000 about 3 months ago. There is NO comparison. While I liked the ep3 very much, the S 2000 is on a whole other level. To give you an idea, I had an AEM CAI, Jackson Racing header, custom b pipe, Spoon exhaust, Rota Slips, Sprint springs, rsx type s front sway, rsx type r rear sway, Carbing lower rear bar, and a bunch of jdm touches. The handling on the eps was considerably better with all that stuff, and the rear would step out on hard corners if you lifted out of the throttle. It was pretty quick too. But there's just no comparison. The handling in the S 2000 stock is unmatched for under 100k. Top down, 9000 rpm, what else could you want? My insurance for low deductable full coverage only went up $20 and I have 4 points (I think it's 7 insurance points). Do it now. Yesterday is not soon enough.
