If you buy a beater for the winter your insurance will be cheaper. That's what I do. Reason being is that you can have full coverage from April 1st to November 1st. After that time the car is to be "off the road" in a sence. You can still drive it but your deducible will be $2500 instead of the regular $500. The insurance assumes less liablity during the winter because you won't be driving it. My insurance is about $600 for the year. Step "9" though driving over 6 years garaged in the sticks. Then just pick up a fun 5spd, winter beater for cheap money and put the minimal insurance on it and have fun. Then in the spring if it still runs mine never do... to much fun... well no... they run but they need some things to make the right again. But then as long as they still run you can sell it and get back most of you money.....as long as you don't kill it.
Anyway thats we do it.
