Default Insurance on a 2003 S2k?

So I have been wanting a S2000 but the only thing that is holding me up is the insurance. I currently am 21 with a decent drivers record but its still really expensive for me. So because of this I have the car that I am driving under my dads name and his car under me. When i went to see how much it would be they said for my dad to be driving the s2000 it would be $181 a month. He is 60 years old with a perfect driving record. We also live in Northern California as well. So my question is what are you guys paying for your monthly premium and why would it be so high for my quote?

Welcome!!

You might want to ask this question in one of the California s2ki regional forums.

Cali is a different world for insurance. I'm in FL, no recent tickets, but a couple of accident claims in the past 5 years and I pay about $100/mo.

I am 21

Live in NJ (one of if not the most expensive state for insurance)

I have USAA (Sorry its a military only thing)

full coverage

500,000/1,000,000 liability

500 deductible on both collision and comp

15k miles per year

I pay 142.36 a month
When I transfer the registration to my dads house in Florida it will go down to below $100 per month

if I went through Geico it would have been 178 per month

No points. one at fault accident one not at fault accident, driving since 16

my own coverage (not connected to anyone else)
