Default New guy looking for an S

Hey im new and fell in love with S2000, and i've been looking for a new/used s2000. I have done my research and saw prices ranging from 9800-15000. Anyone got any suggestions for what to look for? And if you are selling one for cheap then let me know ;].

Thanks.

Depends if you want an early one 99-03 or 04-09. I like the subtle differences in looks of the AP2 but I am a bit bias.

Things to look for are tears on the inside of the softop or the beginning of a tear.

Highlly recommend having it checked out by a mechanic and I would never buy one that has been boosted.

Most of all take your time and find the right car for you.

you can find a lot of good stuff in that price range. My suggestion would be that you look at as many as you can before you decide to buy. Test drive as many and if the owner wont let you drive it at least ride shotgun and let the owner hit vtec and high speed on the highway to see how it rides.

I agree with everything above except for not buying one that has been boosted. The previous owner of my S had a supercharger on it for a few thousand miles. I had a compression test done, and had the mechanic who inspected it check for possible damage from the supercharger. There wasnt any, and the car has run fine ever since i bought it. Im by no means saying its a good idea to buy one previously boosted, but dont rule it out if its a good deal. Just be sure to have it checked for damage. And fwiw, the mechanic told me a supercharger is easier to reverse than a turbocharger, just something to keep in mind.

My suggestion would be to get the newest car you can get within your price range.
But any s2000 you get will most likely be a good car. Like someone said before. Drive as many as possible and find out what years and styles you like the best and than make a decision.

Oh thanks for the suggestions guys. No boosted cars, well maybe. Test drive it, if not then shotgun. Check soft top for the beginning of tear. Thanks guys.

I agree, you should check out quite a few before you make a decision. The deals are out there. I test drove at least 6 of them before I found my 03, 1 owner, with 30k miles on it for 12k. My buddy and I test drove about 5 last month to find his. Its all a matter of finding the right one and not jumping on the first one you see. Good luck!
