Go for it Dan. There are lots of mature owners around here, including this 63 year old. Admittedly, this car is a big investment, but I am saving considerably on my Viagra usage . A really big plus, which does not get stated often enough in this forum, is that the S2000 is extremely tame and well behaved when forced to trundle along in everyday slow traffic. Easy to shift and maneuver, and the engine gives decent mileage with no quirks in its lower rev ranges. Good luck.

Dan - welcome to the board!

I use mine as a daily driver (since I don't have an extra car!) and I absolutely love it. The ride is exceptionally stiff, but I only really noticed it on the 1st day I drove it home. Going from an SUV to this car is about as extreme as you can get - I think you guys are gonna have a blast. The funny thing is that if you drive a decent amount of highway miles like I do, you'll get pretty amazing gas mileage from a sports car.

Good luck - you won't regret it.

Dan, I'm 57 and I believe that you are as old as you think that you are. Most of the time I'm about 21 or so I drive my red MY2001 to work every day, regardless of the weather (even in the snow). My commute is 40 miles round trip.

I just got back from autocross drivers school yesterday...what a blast! I had to see if I could drive this thing as well as I thought that I could I'm happy to say that I wasn't surprised, but sure had a lot of fun. That was the best $20 that I have spent in years. The local sports cars club puts on these drivers classes for anyone that wants to participate. I would imagine that all of the clubs put these schools on and I would whole heartedly recommend them to everyone. It will really give you an idea of what your car is capable of, if you put it through it's paces.

Have fun with your new car,
Bob

Hey Dan, hope you enjoy your car. I just picked up a Black/Black '02 S2k yesterday night and I'm in El Monte which is quite nearby. I hope you haven't been hassled around by many of the dealerships within the Southern California vicinity as I have.

Coming from Supraforums.com this board is quite a refreshing change. Just perusing through this topic shows the quality and diversity of the people that participate on this board. Comparing it to Supraforums makes Supraforums seem like it is filled with way too many immature people, although there are many exceptions. Because it seems that I'm younger than most of the people here, I'm glad the car I just switched to has such a great community to participate in.

Dan
I, too had an Mg when I was 19 (long ago)and had not driven a stick shift in 16years, when my husband said we should look at the Honda. I have had 3 previous Hondas, loved each and every one and each was an upgrade. This is the
TOPS!!!! I got into the car and drove like I had not missed of day of driving a stick. Very easy and smooth, short shift, comfortable. I loved my MGB-GT, but I REALLY LOVE this car. It is my daily therapy twice a day...on the way to work and the way home. The top is down going both directions....my motto: Hair up Top down!
By the way, I will soon be 50, and feel like I am 18, only better
Get the car, and enjoy the heck out of it. Join in on your local S2K club, go for drives and meet other drivers in your area. You will be amazed by the diversity in age, yet we all have one common link (to start with anyway )
Good luck, Enjoy
