I may have missed this announcement on this board but here's a quote from Honda's press release in Sept:
The 2002 S2000 is equipped with an improved transmission for smoother and quieter shifts. The S2000 also has a new high-capacity clutch.
I'd heard about the gearbox but not the clutch before...

I think the clutch is just the replacement one from the 2000 MY that didn't buzz. I've heard reports on this board that even some MY 2001 owners had the buzzing clutch, so maybe they finally got the manufacturing issue solved and none of the 2002 MT clutches buzz. I also noticed that the improved clutch is a lot stronger. It didn't slip when going up hills. My buzzing clutch lasted 8400 miles and I'm at 33K miles now and still going strong!
