Default New to me S2000 question about plastic rear window

Hi All,

I recently purchased a red 2001 S2000 with only 19K miles, the car is in nearly perfect condition.

I have the plastic rear window and whenever I put the top down the rear window does not fold properly, it gets a crease running up and down in the middle of the window. So for now my procedure is to put the top half way down, get out of the car, push the crease in so that the window folds width wise and then get back in the car to put the top the rest of the way down.

I have already installed new Modifry elastic straps and they didn't help.

Does anyone have a suggestion to prevent the window creasing ? It is a shame to have an electric convertible top and still have to get out of the car to lower it.

Thanks !!

possible the rear plastic window was installed incorrect. those oem tops are two piece. you can buy the rear plastic window separately. it zips in to the front piece and has indicaters to line it up correctly. if not installed correct it can cause the window to fold wrong. how I know this, I installed one in my 01 and it was a bitch! do not put your top down when the temperature is less than 50 degrees. the plastic will crack. the reason why I had to replace mine. the zipper on the top and rear window piece has notches cut into the fabric of the zipper for alignment. the notches should line up with each other. good luck with the fix.
