New Member + Article on 2002 Suspension Changes
S4-2-S2K,
First of all, welcome to this board...
I bout my new S2K about 3 weeks ago.... After test driving a used MY00 I had to have one... I have to agree that the 2 cars handled a bit differently... My S2k (MY02) seems more predictable at the limit, and I have yet to experience some snap oversteer on public road with the car... On the other hand the MY00 that I drove felt more "twitchy" and more willing to slide around the corners... Could be the fact that it had 5000 miles on what seemed to be to original S02s...
In any case, thanks for posting this great article! I am sure that some American car magazine will reveal these changes in the next few months.

Part numbers would only be part of it.
The article refers to parts and adjustments.
Suspension settings for both front and rear would be the other part to investigate for differences.
That comment about the "rear torsion bar" is really wacky though!

Hi all, thanks for the welcome. I figured this article would generate some good discussion.
From snooping around, it looks like the front/rear stabilizer bars are the same size between MY00/01 and MY02...like Triple-H mentioned, it may be more tweaking of the suspension in terms of camber, etc. than raw part changes.
Interesting though that jalbrah thought he sensed some differences. It seems like there are quite a few owners here that have traded in 00/01s for 02s...I wonder if they also noticed anything different.
I had a 93 MR2 Turbo and ironically that year Toyota also made some suspension changes 2 years into production (from MY91/92) to address similar reports of unexpected oversteer by some drivers. I could still induce oversteer quite easily in the '93 but it was very manageable. That car also had incredibly short throws but it had a punishing ride and lots of turbo lag...and mine didn't even have power steering.
Like jalbrah, I'm anxious to see the American mags review of the MY02 changes.
