Default New Owner - To Do list

NEWBIE QUESTION ALERT:

I am buying a 2001 with 56K miles on Monday for $12,500. The car is 9.5/10 exterior and 8.5/10 interior.

Assuming you all don't scream "DON'T DO IT" what is the first thing you recommend I do? I want to keep it stock so I am talking about things like switching to Synthetic Oil, Changing Diff Fluid, etc...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Learn about possible valve retainer problems. Think about checking them and replacing them.

Don't forget brake fluid, pads if needed, and a good polish and wax

Take a nice long ride on the back roads to learn the car.

Also put some type of UV protectant on the top & interior.

Don't forget to go enjoy the car.

I did

Oil Change
Transmision fluid
Diff fluid
Speakers/deck

Things to check aside from what I changed would be:

Cabin filter
Intake filter
Spark plugs
Tires (for cracks etc)

Oil is first and foremost, Many S2k owners especially those with AP1's like myself don't realize that some of these motors consume oil faster than others. I wasn't aware and could have blown my motor when I first got mine. The oil pressure light turned on, and I shut the car off immediately and put oil in. Others haven't been so lucky. Make it a point to check your oil every 500 hundred miles, or every 1k at the very least.
