new owner! itching for mods, but which to do?
Hiya guys, just picked up a new 2004 Silverstone S2K, and i LOVE it!
I have the itch to do some mods on it and am wondering what you guys would recommend?
I want to do a CAI, but it seems there are some complications (water intake, etc). I would like to add as much HP as I can, but i want to keep it very daily driver-able... I am sure this has been asked many times before. Would the AEM CAI be a generally good kit to grab?
What are some of the easiest things to do (i am not that much of a car "expert" ATM) which will get me some good HP gain? (If anyone has any links to more good information i would be very grateful).
Thanks for all your help!

1. Intake....I suggest Spoon snorkle type. You get to keep your stock box but brings more air in.
2. Exhaust..... You must figure out if you want single or dual. Then you want loud or not....then take you picks.

Just a few hints from a wannabe gearhead.
Make sure you aren't worried about voiding your warranty before you go too far. Some simple mods will void more warranty than you might think. Such as, something as simple as an oiled filter might void the warranty on your MAF (mass airflow sensor) because of oil buildup possibilities.
Also, rims can void warranties as well.
BUT, to your original question, for a daily driver new to modding, I'd recommend keeping it naturally aspirated to start. Think headers, exhaust, and CAI.
Next step would be things like larger brakes, reinforced or new rear-end gearing (search for 4.33 or 4.77) and sport clutches, lighter flywheel, and such.
To go all out would be forced induction via super or turbo charging. Voiding the entire engine warranty.

It's a nice and functional way to start the "mod bug".

Mod: thanks for moving, quick responses!
That knob looks nice! What are the benefits to getting that though? The stock one is pretty cool, imo!
Yes, the warranty issue is a big one w. me, i really want to keep the warranty (or as much as possible). Maybe i should call up the local service dept. here and see what i can and cannot do.
As far as exhaust, i think the stock one sounds pretty damn cool, a TAD louder couldnt hurt though... i think i would like to keep it a dual, i think it looks very cool.
Would the CAI void any parts of my warranty? I read that it really doesnt give a boost in HP, just makes the engine sound "meaner" (which i would love). But i would think even 5 hp would be felt.

yes CAI will void your warranty.
i tell you what man. If i were you...and yes i have new car with 1000k mile on it now..and this is what i'm doing.
dont worry about doing anything to your engine or tranny. it will void your warranty and those two are very important...well at least to me. i wont touch either until close to or until my warrany runs out.
while then, you can work on your body....such as getting a lip, suspension, rims, CF hood, etc etc.
if you work on your suspension...yeah it will void that part of warranty but why does that matter when lets say you got better coilovers.
