but what i have found to help is getting a heavier shift knob.
skunk2 makes a 440 gram shift knob that has made shifting for me less notchier. i have tried ricks countersunk as well and found it worse for me.
Is this Skunk2 knob countersunk or does it go up as high as the OEM knob?

And for the record, don't feel you have to go synthetic oil/tranny fluid to make a change, the newest formulation of Honda's MTF (manual tranny fluid) works just great. I have tried several fluids, and I keep coming back to Honda MTF.

My guess is that you have to rev the car up a little higher. What RPMs are you shifting now?
There are probably different opinions on this as well, but it is still under the first 600 miles so I havent really been over 6k or so yet. I am waiting like the manual says to get 600 on it before I really beat on it.

Funny though the shifting points that the manual recommends. Something like 1-2 at 15mph then 2nd - 3rd at 20 or 25. Cant remember exactly at the moment, but if you shifted like the manual says you would never get over 3k in rpms

heavier shift knob should do the trick. i recently switched to an Alex titanium knob and i feel like my tranny is about to break every time i shift. it was much smoother feeling with the OEM and the Rick's aluminum countersunk knob.

Wow, guess I lucked out. My shifting feels very smooth through all gears. The only thing I get is the "clunking" when the car is cold and warming up, but that disappears quickly...

I thought the same exact thing when I got my S2K a few months ago. The thunking still is there once in a while, but very rarely. I think it goes away after a you put a few K miles on it.

I'm not getting "clunking," but more of a "knocking" during warm-up. This is parked and at idle. I believe it could be detonation. Sure sounds like it.

Bugs the hell out of me, but subsides at running temps.

Personally I shift around 4k for everyday city driving. Haven't had any problems here.

skunk2 440g shifter is the same height as stock , not countersunk.

to the OP, the way you shift does also make a difference.
i use to try to do the 1-2 shift by sliding the shifter down while applying pressure towards the left. i find it much easier just to slide it straight down.

also with the 2-3 shift like people have mentioned...just slide it straight up.

1-2 @ 15 mph
2-3 @ 25 mph
3-4 @ 40 mph
4-5 @ 47 mph
5-6 @ 52 mph

I'm well above 3000 RPM at those speeds. Do you guys too or is it just me?
