Default New Purchase &Dealer Help

Well, I ordered my Suzuka Blue w/ hardtop two months ago in early April. The Dealership said they would put it in with the new orders they were making. Several weeks later I called the Dealer wondering if they might have a vin yet. The Dealer said that the build date on the car is to be June 21st 2002 and they wouldn't have a vin until the car began production. I told the dealer to let me know what I should be doing to prepare for the cars arrival so I can pick it up the day that it arrives. That was three weeks ago and I have still not heard from the dealer.

This will be the first "brand new" car I have ever purchased and also the first time ever dealing with a dealership. My question to you is what should I expect from the dealer? I have the checklists and 'what to do when I pick up my car' stuff but I'm not sure what I should be getting together on my end before the car gets here. I was expecting a bit more interaction on the dealer's part, am I too early in expecting to hear from the dealer or expecting too much? When are the vin's typically available so that I can get the insurance straightened out?

Thanks for the help,
Jason

VIN numbers are not assigned until the car is built. I would expect you r dealer to have a VIN for you around the 24th. Shipping seems to vary but expect 1 month from the build date. Mine was built on 3 Jun and the dealer had a VIN for me on the 6th. They said expect the car by 4 July.

My build date was pushed back at least once, but the S arrived a little over a month after the last date I was told. Didn't hear much in between. Honda dealers vary WIDELY in experience with these cars - some know a lot & some only seem to know that it has 4 wheels. My dealer was great- the salesperson hid the car in the back when it arrived & let no one touch or sit in it -- also specified "no dealer stickers, etc." on the car. You'll probably know a lot more about the car than they will! Well worth the wait, & AWESOME color choice! (got mine last Saturday) ; )
